⦁ If you want to have a chance to interact with some of the animals, I suggest you get there early, most of the animals take “cat naps” during the afternoon.
This zoo is laid out very well. We were able to see every animal except the Polar Bear. He was hiding somewhere.
There is a vast variety of animals in this Zoo. There are some of the normal ones like giraffes, monkeys, lions, tigers, and bears… One of the unique animals at this Zoo is the Tasmanian Devil. The Albuquerque Zoo is one of four in the country that has Tasmanian Devils. However, when we went the staff told me the one they had was older and wasn’t being showcased anymore. I found out that they had a couple due to the Zoo within a few weeks. I guess we will need to go back.😊
Our son loved it here. He was engaged the WHOLE time. I believe he said “Hi” to every animal, even the crocodiles and snakes, which freak me out!
They are building a penguin enclosure that is set to open in the Spring of 2019.
They have a carousel in the middle of the park that the kids can ride for an additional $2.
We ate lunch at their Cottonwood Café which is centrally located in the zoo (across from the carousel). It’s basic, overpriced, cafeteria food with sandwiches and hot dogs, etc. I’d recommend bringing your lunch and sitting on the lawn nearby.
There are scheduled feedings of certain animals throughout the day that you can watch. The website link is below.
